Public Health, a Major Feature of Socialism
The DPRK regards the public health as one of the major features of the socialist system, which brings the advantages of its system substantially to the life of the people.
The free medical care in the DPRK is one of the important state and social policies.
All the working people including workers, farmers, military men and intellectuals are benefited by the free medical care irrespective of sex, age, residence, job, and quantity and quality of labour.
Added to the free medical services there are many other beneficent health measures such as the district medical care system in which each doctor takes care of the health and prophylactic treatment within a certain district under his or her charge for the life and health promotion of the people and a state pension system
Moreover, a special medical service such as a telemedicine service system and emergency medical service system is consistently developed.
The DPRK puts a major emphasis in its health policy to the preventive medicine because it considers prophylactic treatment as the positive measure in the medical care and health protection of the people.
