“Father Party” and “Son Party”
In June 1975 President Kim Il Sung on his official visit to Yugoslavia met the leader of this country Tito. In the meeting, Tito expressed his envy about the DPRK advancing with confidence without hanging on another’s smiles, and frankly spoke about their bitter feeling as to the hard nut to crack due to the pressure and slanders coming from this or that way.
President Kim Il Sung responded saying to this effect: I understand fully your anguish. But I have a view that if a man turns to flunkeyism, he becomes an idiot, if a nation takes to flunkeyism, it falls into ruin and if a party follows flunkeyism, it makes a mess of revolution and construction.
After a while, he went on point by point: There can be neither higher nor lower party or “father party” nor “son party” in the world. The independence is the requirement of the present age.
His words implicated the valuable truth that only when the independence is maintained, the prestige can be defended and the victory of revolution and construction achieved.
