Lecture of Sketch Practice
Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Pyongyang University of Architecture (then) in November 2018.
That day he was shown in the art practice room, when he asked the students in the middle of their drawing on how long did it take for them to sketch a figure.
One of them replied that it usually take five minutes. Then he told to the students to try to sketch one of the officials and he would wait about ten minutes there. Then he chose one of the entourage accompanying him.
While three of the students were sketching, he watched carefully the collection of the architectural design plans page by page and highly appreciated it.
He told to the chief official of the university that an architect had to be good in drawing.
To this end, an architect had to have a spatial presentation ability and the sensibility of the form, proportion and colours. And the finishing colour would change the appearance of an architecture. He took an example to make it clear.
After ten minutes, he examined the yet unfinished sketches of the three students and told the merits and demerits of the different methods of their sketching.
His lucid explanation about the requirements and methods of the sketching practice, which needs to take only substantial features of the objects summarily within a short time, was indeed a lecture.
