Educational Aid Fund and Stipend
The educational aid fund and stipend is the financial aid fund from the DPRK Government to help the children of the Korean compatriots in Japan to have a democratic national education.
President Kim Il Sung included in the state budget bill of the DPRK the item “Educational aid fund and stipend for the children of the Korean compatriots in Japan” and took a measure to make it permanent in mid-1950s when all was hard up for the reconstruction after the war.
The first-round aid began with over ¥120 million on April 8, 1957 and all told till 2020 amounted to ¥48 660 330 390 in 166 rounds.
The educational aid fund and stipend give a great pride to the Korean compatriots in Japan including the students and their parents, teachers and researchers that they are overseas Korean citizens.
