Poet Kim Sang O
After the liberation of Korea from the Japanese imperialist occupation, he created many poems including a poem “Plaza” (1950) singing of the emotion and joy of the Korean people who welcomed President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) to liberated Korea.
He created poems to stir up the hostile feelings of the servicemen of the People’s Army and people for the enemy including “with the flame of hatred” and “home” during the Fatherland Liberation War and many works including a lyric “Song to Party” (1960) that sang in praise of the boundless reverence and love of the people for the WPK and the appearance of the daily-changing country after the war.
In the 1970s and 1980s and even in his closing days of life he created many poems.
Typical are a lyric “Concern” (1977) ,“Our Party” (1980) representing the reverence and thanks to the President Kim Il Sung and the Chairman Kim Jong Il and “Granddaughter” singing of life.
A special mention should be made that he created a lyric “My Motherland” (1979) describing the affection of the motherland to be respected and loved by the Korean people.
They recall poet Kim Sang O together with lyric “My Motherland.”
The words of song “A Bumper Harvest in Chongsan Plain” (1959) “we planted golden trees and crab-apple trees on the mountains“(1960) are all favorite of the Korean people.
Besides, he created novels, critical essays, biography and essays.
Among the collection of his poems are “Our Day,” "lames of Hatred,” “Beautiful Shore” and “My Motherland.”
