One day in January 1984, an official visited the mansion of President Kim Il Sung .
He was much impressed with all the durables and fittings, even a lampshade being as simple as those used by common families.
The official told the President that since the people were living in fine houses now he might have good durables and fittings.
Then the President answered him to this effect: I do not want a house and things better than those of the people. How can I have a splendid house and good furniture? Domestic products, simple durables and furnishings, clothes and shoes and crockery are fine for me. Money, if any, must be spent for the people’s livelihood
